My EOS550D

Finally, I've got my hands on my long desired Canon EOS550D today at the Canon Service Centre.* (CSC)

Those who knows me well would know that I'm actually aiming for the DSLR series by Canon for quite some time. Considering that I've done researches for like 9 months, I think this might be the best bet afterall. The word research sounds so "PROFOUND", but actually it's more like a comparison. Truthfully, I've been going around places and calling up neighborhood stores to check on the prices and the gifts they're offering almost weekly.

Then one day, I overheard someone talking about this Canon Privillege Purchase Program (PPP)* whereby you bring in an old faulty Canon camera for an exclusive rebate of around 17% off on a purchase of a new camera. So I tried searching through ClubSnap (the forum where photographers gather) thread, and to my surprise so many of them knows about this program. (I feel so "mountain turtle" leh...) I read through the whole thread and yes, they provided tons of useful information.

I admitted my grandma to the hospital that day for eye surgery and have got some free time so took the shuttle bus and went down to CSC happily with my old faulty camera. After they finish filling up my particulars, all I have to do is to wait for their call to inform on the collection date. What I got was an instant rebate offer for purchase of a brand new EOS550D Kit 1 @ S$1,109 which comes with an 8GB SD Card, EOS550D User Guide Book and a Canon EOS Tote Bag ! I was being informed over the counter it might take a week or two but received the SMS shortly after three days.

Collection was done really fast, just take Lift A to 4th floor for collection and payment of equipment. Then down to Level 1 for redemption of free gifts and online registration of warranty*. There's a promotion going on, that's to purchase the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens at a special price of $60 if warranty is registered online. So I went ahead to do the registration and printed together with purchase of the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens' receipt.

Some side notes:
*Warranty for body and lens are to be separately registered.
*Park at the Canon outdoor carpark, get a receipt from the attendant and ask a Canon staff to stamp it for you before leaving the building to enjoy free parking.
*For your info, CSC is located at 1 HarbourFront Ave #04-01 Keppel Bay Tower Singapore 098632.
*For retail pricings, you could call them. But for the PPP pricing, don't bother because they would ignore you.

Total Damage: S$ 1,169.00
Satisfactory Level: 5/5
